Russell Lenten Luncheons, Community Good Friday Worship Service Schedule

Lenten LunchThe theme for the 2018 Russell Association of Churches Community Lenten Luncheon series is Giving Up for God.

The season of Lent is too often a time when people joke about giving up this or that, which has little consequence to improving one's faith journey.

In the 2018 Russell Association of Churches Lenten Luncheon series, each host congregation's faith leader will challenge Christians to truly give up for God those practices and thoughts that do not reflect that which God desires for those Jesus calls to follow him.

The Russell County congregations are invited to share a meal and worship beginning at 12:05 PM on the following Wednesdays:

  • February 21 - "Giving Up Control" - Otterbein United Methodist Church
  • February 28 - "Giving Up Expectations" - St. Mary Queen of Angels
  • March 7 - "Giving Up Superiority" - St. John Lutheran Church
  • March 14 - "Giving Up Enemies" - Trinity United Methodist Church
  • March 21 - "Giving Up Our Lives" - United Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger
  • March 28 - Men's Luncheon - First Congregational Church

United Emmanuel Lutheran Church is the 2018 host of the Community Good Friday Worship Service on Friday, March 30. Beginning at 12:05 PM, Nancy Mitchell, PMA of United Emmanuel Lutheran Church will be the preacher. The service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church at 425 North Main in Russell.

The Community Good Friday Worship is sponsored annually by the Russell Association of Churches. The location of the Good Friday service is rotated annually. The offering at the service aids the Association in assisting people in Russell County.

The service will be broadcast live on KRSL AM 990, 98.1 FM and Nex-Tech cable channel 130.
