Five More Arrested for Drugs

Drug Arrest 2As part of an investigation regarding drug activity on December 4 at two residences in Russell, the Russell County Sheriff's Office and Russell Police Department served a search warrant for illegal drugs at 435 West 7th Street in Russell on December 5.

According to a press release from Russell County Sheriff Fred Whitman, officers executed the search warrant at approximately 2:19 PM on Wednesday.

During the search, a quantity of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were located, along with two firearms. One of the guns had been previously reported lost or stolen in Russell.

Jessie Brown, Cassidy Froelich, Amelia Heaton, Elias Arnet and Richard Heaton, all of Russell, were placed under arrest and transported to the Russell County Jail.

Recommended charges on all parties include possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Richard Heaton also has recommended charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of lost or mislaid property.

On December 4 and 5, the Russell County Jail has booked in 19 arrestees according to Whitman.

Of these arrests, 12 contained drug related charges, two were firearms related, one was traffic related, one was for domestic battery and the remainder were for arrest warrants. Agencies making these arrests were the Russell Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Russell County Sheriff's Office.
