Two Russell Men Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash

CrashTwo Russell men were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in southern Russell County.

According to dispatch logs, at 12:17 PM Saturday, Russell Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle injury accident a half-mile west of US Highway 281 on Walters Road.

A Russell County Sheriff's Deputy responded, along with a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper, Russell County EMS and the Russell City Fire Department.

According to Russell County Sheriff Fred Whitman, the vehicles involved were a 2006 Chevy Silverado owned and operated by 20-year-old Brenton Lumpkins of Russell and a 1997 GMC Sierra owned and operated by 21-year-old Beau Radke of rural Russell.

Whitman said one vehicle was eastbound and the other was westbound, both vehicles were left of center and they collided.

EMS transported both drivers to Russell Regional Hospital.

Both drivers were buckled up at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
