Russell City Council Approves Economic Development Incentive for Manufacturing Company

Russell City Council 1-15-19The Russell City Council met Tuesday and approved an economic development incentive agreement for a manufacturing company looking to expand into Russell.

Mechanized Concepts, LLC from Lindon, Utah submitted a request for economic incentives to expand their business operation into Russell to manufacture equipment and produce hemp related products according to City of Russell officials.

Mechanized Concepts applied for economic incentives and received official response from the state of Kansas with approval for incentives.

The request to the City of Russell was for funding to provide working capital in order to mobilize their operations to Russell.

The facility will be located at 553 South Front Street.

Their direct request from the City of Russell was for a $500,000 grant.

Council President Jim Cross made the motion.

The motion passed unanimously.

The Russell County Commissioners were also present at the meeting and they also approved an incentive agreement.

Also Tuesday, the Council approved a Golf Course Clubhouse operators contract with Krista Whitmer, an enhanced cereal malt beverage ordinance and a community cleanup day for April 27.
