April 18 is Lineman Appreciation Day

powerOn April 10, 2013, the United States Senate adopted a resolution supporting the designation of April 18 as National Lineman Appreciation Day.

The Senate recognized the contributions of the brave men and women who are many times first responders during storms and other catastrophic events. They protect public safety and work under dangerous conditions to construct and maintain the energy infrastructure of the United States.

"The City of Russell is a proud public power community that appreciates the efforts of our linemen who work every day to keep our lights on," said Mayor Curt Mader. "Each morning when we crawl out of bed and turn on the light we have a lineman to thank."

Municipally owned utilities offer several advantages to the people they serve. Local choice and local control are just a couple of them. Get to know your local utility people. The City of Russell is dedicated to serve the utility needs of our community and customers now and into the future.
