Russell City Council Hears Budget Requests

Russell City Council 1-15-19The Russell City Council met Tuesday and discussed the 2020 budget.

The Council heard from several outside entities regarding their requests for funding in the budget. The entities included Russell County Economic Development and CVB, Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center, Russell Main Street, Inc., Russell Area Chamber of Commerce, Russell Public Library, Russell Recreation Commission, Options Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Services, Inc., and the Ad Astra Music Festival.

Also Tuesday, the Council approved a professional services agreement with Bartlett and West for an inflow and infiltration program. Inflow and infiltration are terms used to describe the ways that groundwater and stormwater enter the sanitary sewer system. Inflow and infiltration cause dilution in sewers. Dilution of sewage decreases the efficiency of treatment and may cause sewage volumes to exceed design capacity.
