Russell Elementary Students Raise More Than $800 for Tennis Shoes

Pennies for TenniesA group of Russell elementary students recently raised more than $800 for the purchase of tennis shoes for less fortunate students and folks in the Russell community.

They called the fundraiser Pennies for Tennies.

USD 407 Superintendent Shelly Swayne explains.

The students presented the money and shoes to the USD 407 Board of Education on Monday.

The kids who attended Monday's meeting to present the shoes and money were Journey Windscheffel, Hadlee Brown, Kinley Stoughton, Rush Brown, Layne Stoughton and Walker Stoughton. Also pictured is School Board President Raeleen Reinhardt holding Kennedy Brown and standing next to Swayne.

The kids' mothers, Kristin Windscheffel, Afton Brown and Jill Stoughton, also attended the meeting. Reinhardt is Afton and Jill's mother.
