USD 407 BOE Rejects Preschool Building Renovation Bids

USD 407 BOE 10-8-18The USD 407 Board of Education met Monday evening and discussed renovation bids for the recently acquired preschool building on Main Street, the microphones and audio system at the Ruppenthal Middle School auditorium, and the upcoming bond election.

USD 407 received the building located at 1202 North Main in Russell last year by donation to convert into a preschool facility. The Board met with architects and finalized a floor plan a few months ago. Bids for the renovation project were requested, received and reviewed.

Originally, the hope was to have the facility open in January of 2020, but that has now been pushed back to an unknown date.

Also Monday, the Board approved the upgrade and purchase of a new audio system and microphones for the RMS auditorium.

The new system will cost about $11,000.

The upcoming bond election in November was discussed as well. Swayne talked about the importance of getting the correct information about the bond out to the public.

Several other topics were discussed Monday, including new contracts, student data, highway crossings, transportation of students to NCK Tech and the new discipline matrix.
