Paradise-Waldo-Natoma Firefighters Respond to Vehicle Fire

FireParadise-Waldo-Natoma Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon north of Russell.

According to dispatch logs, at 12:36 PM Wednesday, a man called Russell Dispatch to report a vehicle on fire north of Russell on US Highway 281.

The vehicle was pulled over and on fire about nine miles north of Russell.

Firefighters, Russell County Sheriff's Office units and Russell County EMS responded.

The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

According to Natoma Fire Chief Keith Koelling, the vehicle was a Ford pickup, but was melted almost beyond recognition.

Koelling said the pickup was pulling a flatbed trailer with a four-wheeler on it and the driver was able to get the trailer unhitched before the fire spread.

The exact cause is unknown, but according to the driver, the fire started in the engine, said Koelling.

There were no injuries.
