The 41st annual Russell Community Thanksgiving Dinner was held on Thursday, November 28 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell.
According to co-organizer Danniell Heaton, 458 meals were served, the second most in the history of the event. The most was 475 in 2018. 215 attended Thursday's dinner at the church with 243 additional meals either picked up or delivered around the community.
The dinner featured turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing and dessert. Anyone attending was welcome to bring a side dish or dessert.
Heaton says a total of 333 pounds of turkey was served by more than 45 volunteers.
She thanks all those who attended or received a meal, the volunteers and anyone who donated to make the Russell Community Thanksgiving Dinner possible.
The meal started in 1978 and continues to grow each year.
