Area Youngsters Encouraged to Enter Poster Contest

KFB Poster Contest PictureEach year, Russell County Farm Bureau joins together with the Kansas Farm Bureau to host a Safety Poster Program aimed at reducing farm accidents by encouraging youth to think "safety-minded."

Posters are being accepted now through February 17 and the theme this year is "20:20 Vision on Ag Safety." Suggested topics include mental health, transportation safety, weather issues, confined spaces and farmer wellness.

Children in first through sixth grade are eligible to enter. Divisions include Grades 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6.

Cash prizes will be given for the top three finishers in the each grade division at the county level. At the state level, awards are given to the top five finishers in each grade division with honorable mention given to the next five placers in each division.

Posters can be picked up the Russell County Farm Bureau Financial Services office at 315 East Wichita Ave. Posters must be returned by February 17 to be judged.  For brochures, videos and safety "DIY" guides for poster ideas, go to kfb.org/Article/2018-State-Safety-Poster-Program.
