Wilson Student Receives $10,000 Scholarship

Horatio Alger AssociationWilson High School Senior Brandalyn Thyfault of Dorrance has received a $10,000 scholarship from the Horatio Alger Association.

Since 1984, Horatio Alger Association Members and Friends have funded need-based college scholarships for low-income youth to pursue their dreams through higher education. So far the Association has awarded more than $159 million to approximately 20,000 students.

Through its many scholarship programs, the Association supports students pursuing career and technical certificates and degrees, bachelor's degrees and graduate studies.

State scholarships are awarded to eligible students in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The program specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders.
