Drought Conditions Continue to Improve in Kansas

Drought Report 2-7-20Drought conditions are improving across Kansas after recent rain and snow.

According to the latest US Drought Monitor report on February 6, normal conditions are now being reported across most of central, north-central and eastern Kansas, including Russell County. Although, severe drought conditions remain in extreme southwest Kansas in areas like Finney, Grant, Hamilton, Kearney, Morton and Stanton Counties. Moderate drought conditions are felt elsewhere in the southwest and in parts of south-central Kansas in two counties - Harvey and Reno. Abnormally dry conditions extend into northwest Kansas and parts of south-central Kansas.

The latest forecast for the next seven days for the Russell area calls for slight chances of snow next week and daytime highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.
