Russell County Health Department Mandates Quarantine for Anyone Traveling to Kansas City

Russell County Health DepartmentDue to the stay-at-home order issued by Kansas City officials, a travel restriction has been issued by the Russell County Health Officer.

Mandatory quarantine is effective for anyone traveling to the Kansas City metro area and back to Russell County.

"As the virus creeps closer and closer west, we have to remain vigilant and try to continue to slow the virus spread," according to a statement from the Russell County Health Department.

This order will stay in effect until conditions in the Kansas City metro area have improved.

Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri issued a stay-at-home order effective Tuesday, March 24. This includes the counties of Johnson and Wyandotte in Kansas. Residents in those areas are to remain home except for activities "essential to the health and safety" of themselves, family members or friends.

Russell County has no COVID-19 positive cases as of March 23.
