Russell County Health Department Releases Travel Orders

Russell County Health DepartmentThe Russell County Health Department has released travel orders regarding quarantines and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has mandated a 14-day home quarantine for Kansans who have:

  • Traveled to a state with known widespread community transmission (California, Florida, New York and Washington) on or after March 15.
  • Traveled to Illinois or New Jersey on or after March 23.
  • Visited Eagle, Summit, Pitkin or Gunnison Counties in Colorado in the week of March 8 or after.
  • Traveled on a cruise ship or river cruise on or after March 15. People who have previously been told by Public Health to quarantine because of their cruise ship travel should finish out their quarantine.
  • Traveled internationally on or after March 15. People who have previously been told by Public Health to quarantine because of their international travel to China, South Korea, Japan, Italy or Iran should finish out their quarantine.

The Russell County Health Department is mandating, in addition to the order by the KDHE, a 14-day quarantine for Kansans who have traveled to an area with confirmed community spread and/or have issued stay-at-home orders, including but not limited to Johnson, Wyandotte, Douglas, Leavenworth, Atchison, Doniphan, Miami and Lyon Counties in Kansas. Counties that enact such orders will be automatically added to the list of mandatory travel quarantine order.

This order supersedes the order on March 14, 2020 and any prior mandates. This will remain in effect as long as the stay-at-home orders are in place for the above counties or there is continued community spread.

This order may be supplanted or modified as required for the effective and efficient management and control of the coronavirus epidemic in Russell County by further order or direction of the Russell County Board of Public Health or by the Russell County Local Health Officer.
