Local Youth Contribute to Record Livestock Show Numbers

Kansas LivestockYouth from 91 Counties, including Russell, have entered more than 1700 animals in the 80th Kansas Junior Livestock Show - the largest number of livestock entered statewide in 25 years.

A total of 750 exhibitors from across the state, and 14 from Russell County, will show their animals at the annual event on September 21-24 at the Kansas Pavilions near Wichita.

Students involved will first show the animals and then the grand and reserve champion winning livestock from each division will be auctioned off on September 24 at a live auction. Showmanship awards will also be given.

Many scholarships from the KJLS will be presented to various youth for academic excellence and community service efforts as well.
