USD 407 Continues to Offer Free Meals to Students

USD 407 Russell Co LogoUSD 407 applied for a waiver and was granted approval through the USDA extending flexibilities for the Summer Food Service Program. With this waiver, they are allowed to continue offering free meals to students.

USD 407 is offering free meals to all enrolled students in the district. Each enrolled student may have a free breakfast and/or free lunch on school days. They will be following the district calendar.

This program began September 8 and they have approval until December 31, 2020 or until funding runs out. In the event that funds run out before December 31, they will inform families. At that point, charges for meals will revert back to fees determined by income eligibility guidelines.

USD 407 is strongly encouraging all families to fill out a free/reduced meal application, if they have not already done so. It would make the transition much easier for when funding runs out.

They have specific times and pick up locations for USD 407 remote learners too:

  • Russell High School and Simpson Elementary School - Russell High School circle drive from 11 AM to 11:15 AM
  • Ruppenthal Middle School and Bickerdyke Elementary School - Ruppenthal Middle School kitchen door (north side of RMS) from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM

For USD 407 families with remote learners, sibling meals may be picked up together at one location.
