City of Russell to Eliminate Phone Calls to Delinquent Accounts

Under the current system, after a second unpaid bill is sent to a customer, city officials begin calling the customer 11 days after its issuance. Russell City Clerk and Treasurer Sheldon Hamilton says the new system will simply put a termination of service date on the second bill, and the change should streamline the process.
"A lot of times we spend several hours a month calling people - sometimes it's as many as a couple hundred people for payments - so this will give us extra time as well," said Hamilton.
