April Election Races Set

VoteThe field for the April 2 City Council and School Board election has been set, according to the Russell County Clerk's Office.

The Russell City Council will have one contested race between Ward III Councilman Jim Cross and challenger GJ Long. The race for City of Russell Mayor will also be contested with current Mayor Carol Dawson going against local business owner Curt Mader.

The USD 407 Board of Education will see six candidates fight for three at-large seats on the board. Incumbents Jim Cross, Raeleen Reinhardt and Kevin Ochs will be challenged by Danny Cochran, Rachelle Standley and Candi Wagner in the election. The top three vote getters out of those six will win the positions.
