State Senator Bowers Announces Hiring of Administrative Assistant

Bowers Names Administrative AssistantState Senator Elaine Bowers (R-Concordia) is pleased to announce that Patty Williams, of Topeka, was selected as her Administrative Assistant for the 2013 Legislative Session.

"I think it is important for my district to know who is answering the phone when they call or who they will meet when they come to the Capitol," said Bowers. "Patty is so enthusiastic, I consider myself fortunate to have her."

Williams previously spent 18 years with Kansas Department of Revenue, where she retired. Eight years ago, Williams returned to the workforce as an assistant with the Kansas Legislature. "I enjoy the interaction here, plus it helps me keep up my skills," said Williams. "My grandchildren love to visit me at the Capitol and see all the government officials."

This is not the first time Williams and Bowers have worked together. In 2009, Williams worked for then-Rep. Bowers in the Kansas House of Representatives. Bowers won election to the Kansas Senate in 2012 and was able to bring Williams to her new office.

As Administrative Assistant, Williams manages the Senator's rigorous schedule and answers phone calls from constituents in North Central and Western Kansas. She has come to know the Statehouse and state of Kansas well.

Bowers represents the 36th Senate District. The district includes part of Phillips and Marshall counties, as well as all of Smith, Jewell, Republic, Washington, Rooks, Osborne, Mitchell, Cloud, Ottawa, Lincoln, and Russell counties.
