Increase in Voter Turnout Expected Tuesday

VoteHigher than normal numbers of people came out to the polls in Russell County last November to vote in the general election, and County Clerk and Elections Officer Mary Nuss says voter turnout on Tuesday, April 2 should again be better than average.

"A lot of people maybe want to make some changes in their local government and I believe it's going to be a pretty high turnout," Nuss said. "I'm really hoping to get 20 to 25 percent out for the county level."

Nuss said on an average year the turnout for these local April elections is only about 10 to 15 percent. The turnout for the November election last year was a very high 46 percent.
