Saturday Morning Power Outage in Russell Caused by Vehicle Crash

Power OuttageA brief power outage occurred early Saturday morning in a northern section of Russell after a vehicle crashed into a power pole in the 1000 Block of North Maple.

According to the Russell Police Department, the crash happened at around 2:40 AM Saturday after an altercation where a pedestrian was actually struck by a vehicle and then the same vehicle struck a power pole in the area. After leaving the scene of the incident and being found about an hour later, the driver of the vehicle was arrested on numerous charges including aggravated assault, duty to report an accident and reckless driving.

City of Russell Electric Utilities Director Duane Banks said Monday the severe thunderstorm that passed through the area on Friday night into Saturday morning did not cause any power outages.
