Crash Involving a Road Repair Truck Monday Injures Two

CrashTwo men were injured and transported to hospitals after they rear-ended a truck on the shoulder of Interstate 70 near the Wilson exit Monday evening that was parked there to protect a road work crew.

The driver, 20-year-old Alexander Krcmarik of Fort Collins, Colorado, was taken to Ellsworth County Medical Center and a passenger, 21-year-old Dillon Cosgrove of Wheaton, Illinois, was transported to Salina Regional Health Center with more serious injuries, but a current condition of either man is unknown.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Krcmarik and Cosgrove were westbound on I-70 at mile marker 206 when at 6:47 Monday evening they struck the rear of a traffic attenuator truck that was protecting a crew working on the shoulder ahead of it. The men's 2004 Honda passenger car then spun into the center median where it came to rest.

The driver of the truck, 31-year-old Kenneth Purnell of Wichita, was not injured.
