UPDATE: Two Russell Residents Injured in Crash

CrashA crash involving three vehicles and a house in the southeast part of Russell sent two people to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Russell Police Chief Dale Weimaster, a 2006 Chevy car and a 2004 Chevy pickup both entered the unmarked intersection of Culp Street and Sunset Ave. at the same time and collided. The pickup veered to the southwest and struck the cement steps of a home. The car went to the south and struck an unattended, parked SUV.

The driver of the car was Sarah Gallagher and the pickup Vernon Flegler, both of Russell. Both went to Russell Regional Hospital. Gallagher was treated and released. Flegler was taken to a Via Christi Hospital in Wichita where he is in serious condition.

Both vehicles sustained more than $1,000 damage and were towed from the scene.

The crashed happed just after 4pm.

Another accident happened earlier in Russell at 2pm.  A 1992 Oldsmobile car went into a hole in the construction zone on East Wichita Ave., just east of the Copeland Street intersection. The driver, Carol Steinle of Dorrance, was not injured. More than $1,000 was done to her car.
