High School State Championship Fishing Tournament to be at Wilson Lake

Russell County Economic Development and CVBRussell County Economic Development and Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Wednesday that Wilson Lake will host the 2014 Student Anglers Federation High School State Championship Series May 17 and 18.

Eco Devo and CVB Executive Director Janae Talbott says the estimated value that fishing tournaments at Wilson Lake bring to Russell County is not only the great exposure for local communities, hotels, eateries and businesses, it is also estimated that each family participating in the tournament spends an average of $750 dollars in the county.

Participants in the tournament either stay at Wilson Lake or they stay in the hotels in Russell since Russell County Eco Devo and CVB is the host for the tournament.

The tournament is set up to have two participants per boat and one volunteer as the boat captain.

According to Talbott, the youth tournaments are not only competitive, but they also offer a way for families to have fun enjoying the great outdoors and promote an outdoor lifestyle that Russell County is known for.
