Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Arrest

Russell County SheriffTwo Russell men were arrested Friday afternoon on methamphetamine possession charges after being pulled over on Highway 281 for speeding.

According to the Russell County Sheriff's Office, at 4:53 PM Friday, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 281 at mile marker 132 in southern Russell County with a 2008 Chevy pickup driven by Keith Risher of Russell.

Risher and Jason Mayberry of Russell, a passenger in the vehicle, were placed under arrest on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of a telecommunication device and no tax stamp.

A citation for speeding 88 in a 65 was also issued to Risher.

Both subjects were transported to the county jail.
