Second Break-In at Lucas Cemetery Shed

Crime PhotoThe Lucas Cemetery machine shed has been broken into for the second time in three months.

The first break-in occurred between the days of December 23 and 30 of last year. Stolen items included two weed eaters, two spools of weed eater string, two red five gallon gas containers full of fuel, several half-pints of oil and approximately 12 VFW bronze grave markers. A padlock and latch were also destroyed. Value of the items taken and destruction of the padlock and latch totaled between $1400 and $1500.

The Russell County Sheriff's Office was called Monday, March 31 on a report that the shed had been broken into again. A report was filed for destruction of property and possible theft of under $1000.
