Early Morning Storm System Packs Damaging Winds, Beneficial Rain

Severe WeatherAn early Thursday morning round of storms in the KRSL listening area knocked out power for a brief time in various parts of Russell County, but brought very beneficial rainfall.

Power outages were reported in central and southern sections of the city of Russell following reports of power poles being knocked down near 2nd and Lincoln and also just south of the Russell Livestock Salebarn. According to authorities, all electricity within the city has been restored.

Many other reports of power outages were received from areas around Russell County, specifically areas west of Russell to Gorham.

Significant wind damage was also reported.

A report was emailed to us at KRSL News that two large trees crashed into a house south of Russell on Balta Road.

With the storms also came heavy rainfall.

The KRSL Studios on the north side of Russell received 1.49. Totals around the KRSL listening area ranged from .87 to 3.45.
