Bunker Hill Foster Mother Arrested on Drug Charges

Drug Arrest 2A Bunker Hill foster mother is behind bars at the Russell County Jail on a $40,000 bond after she was arrested June 19 on drug and child endangerment charges.

According to a Russell County Sheriff's Office press release, on Thursday, June 5 at 12:35 PM, Sheriff's Deputies responded to the third floor of the Russell County Courthouse. A social worker with the Hays Department of Children and Families had called and requested an officer and an ambulance respond as they were there with Saint Francis Community and Family Services doing a KDHE investigation because a foster mother tested positive for marijuana as well as three of the four girls. One girl advised her that the mother and the other girls drank bleach with milk in Bunker Hill.

Russell County EMS responded to evaluate the girls. The deputies started an investigation on the foster mother.

Deputies applied for and obtained a search warrant for 105 8th in Bunker Hill. They collected more than 11 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cups with liquid for testing and liquid bleach as evidence.

All four foster children were removed from the house and placed in other homes by Saint Francis. Reports were filed with the Russell County Attorney's Office.

On Thursday, June 19 at 6:40 PM, deputies from the Russell County Sheriff's Office placed Pam Pertl under arrest on the strength of warrants for possession of marijuana, two counts of distribution of marijuana and three counts of aggravated endangering of a child.
