Three Arrested for Drugs Following Hit and Run Accident

Drug ArrestThree people were arrested early Friday morning on Interstate 70 in Russell County for possession of drugs following their involvement in a hit and run accident with a semi truck.

According to the Russell County Sheriff's Office, on June 20 at 3:25 AM a Sheriff's Deputy responded to I-70 eastbound just east of the 188 mile marker for a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, a 2013 Chevy Camaro was found disabled.

While the deputy worked the accident, he contacted Thrower McKissick and Myronta Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri and Tamar Brent of Denver, Colorado, all who were in the Camaro.

The three people advised a semi struck their vehicle then fled the scene leaving the Camaro disabled.

The deputy approached the vehicle and located a large amount of marijuana in the car.

A search of the subjects revealed that Brent had a loaded handgun on him.

All three subjects were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and Brent was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm. They were transported to the Russell County Sheriff's Office.

Approximately $40,000 worth of marijuana was seized, along with cash and the firearm.
