Meth Lab Trash Found Near Lucas

Russell County SheriffA backpack containing methamphetamine lab trash was found Monday near Lucas and the Russell County Sheriff's Office reminds you to use caution when discovering suspicious items along country roads.

According to a press release from Sheriff John Fletcher, on July 14 the Sheriff's Office was called to a rural location near Lucas. A group of people working along the sides of a rural road located the aforementioned backpack.

The Sheriff's Office responded along with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to clean up the site. The incident is still under investigation.

The Russell County Sheriff's Office would like to warn all people working in rural areas, picking up trash along roadsides or cleaning up farm locations that if you locate anything suspicious to please contact local law enforcement.

Clandestine meth labs, even when they are not active, contain dangerous chemicals and can injure people if they get exposed.

Please call law enforcement so they can investigate and clean up the areas.
