Four Russell People Arrested on Drug Charges Following Manhunt for Another Man

Russell Police DepartmentFour Russell people were arrested for drug possession Thursday night in Russell following a manhunt for another man.

According to the Russell Police Department, at 8:42 PM Thursday, an officer conducted a traffic stop for suspicious activity in the 700 block of South Fossil Street with a 2002 Chevy with Colorado license plates.

At 8:46 PM, the officer advised Russell Dispatch he detained two subjects, who were later released, but an additional white man wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and white shoes ran on foot toward Russell Veterinary Service in the 900 block of South Fossil.

Additional Russell Police Officers and units from the Russell County Sheriff's Office and Kansas Highway Patrol responded to search the area. The search was concentrated in the area of the Fossil Creek Mobile Home and RV Park in the 800 block of South Front Street.

At 9:20 PM, a woman called dispatch advising she saw someone run into a white house on the corner of 1st and Ash.

At 11:42 PM, dispatch received a call from another woman advising someone had just jumped off the roof of the Lodge at Russell and was last seen running north on Fossil.

At 1:44 AM Friday, the man was spotted running northbound from Shopko.

And at 2:46 AM Friday, dispatch received a call from a woman in the 800 block of West Wisconsin reporting the suspect had knocked on her door asking for a drink. She advised she did not let the man in and he was last seen walking eastbound on 6th Street.

The officers, deputies and troopers were unable to locate the man and he remains at large.

The incident remains under investigation.

While searching the mobile home park Thursday night, law enforcement officers discovered evidence of drugs at one of the residences.

At 10:49 PM Thursday, units from the police department and sheriff's office conducted a search warrant at 833 South Front, Lot #40.

Sydney Perez, Sarah Smith-Orr, Nicholas Arnet and Nathan Casper, all of Russell, were placed under arrest and transported to the Russell County Jail.

All four were charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Perez was also charged with possession of marijuana.
