RCACF Awards $16,600 in Grants to USD 407

RCACF Grants to USD 407 5-15-17The Russell County Area Community Foundation recently awarded $16,600 in grants to USD 407.

"The Russell County Area Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that exists solely to make our area a great place to live," said Angie Muller, Executive Director of the Foundation. "We do that by awarding grants in our communities in a way that preserves our rural way of life, so generations can call Russell County home. The Foundation is pleased to partner with USD 407 to provide students and teachers grants that support a terrific learning environment."

The school district received $10,000 from the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund to purchase Lightspeed software that allows district personnel to monitor and track internet and computer usage. The software blocks inappropriate websites even if the user is away from the USD 407 network.

Bickerdyke Elementary School received a $5,000 grant from Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund to implement Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Stations.

Russell High School received a $543 grant from the Dolores Y. and Robert L. Earnest Fund to launch Bronco Radio. A $1,093 grant from the Dane G. Hansen Community Fund and Kansas Health Foundation Children's Fund will be used to purchase rehabilitation equipment for student athletes.
