Russell City Council Discusses Vacant Building Ordinance

Russell City Council 2-7-17The Russell City Council met Tuesday and discussed a proposed vacant building ordinance.

City Manager Jon Quinday presented a preliminary draft of the ordinance to the Council.

According to Quinday, the ordinance includes the formulation of a registration database to better track the city's abandoned or vacant residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

It's all a part of a collaborative effort by city leaders, business leaders and Russell Main Street, Inc. to clean up Russell.

Quinday said Tuesday he hopes the ordinance will be considered for approval by early 2018, but several revisions will probably be made before then.

Also Tuesday, the Council discussed a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Grant for street improvements city officials are applying for.
