Ribbon Cutting Held for New Playground Equipment

Bickerdyke Park New Playground Ribbon Cutting 11-2-17The City of Russell and the Russell Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning at Bickerdyke Park to celebrate the recently installed playground equipment.

The City received a $5,000 grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to assist in the purchase and installation of the new equipment.

Total project cost was about $38,000 with the remaining cost paid with alcohol tax collected by the State of Kansas.

The new equipment replaces equipment that was originally installed in the 1970s.Bickerdyke Park New Playground 11-2-17

Thursday's ceremony also marked the 40th anniversary of the naming of Bickerdyke Park.
