Large Crowd Attends USD 407 BOE Facilities Work Session

USD 407 Work Session 11-27-17A large crowd of about 50 people attended a joint work session of the USD 407 Board of Education and the Facilities Planning Community Task Force Monday evening to further discuss what to do with USD 407 facilities.

The meeting was held at the Russell High School Library.

Tom Montgomery with GLMV Architecture, along with Roger Edgar of George K. Baum & Company, presented a summary of the planning process to this point.

Montgomery detailed several options and the Task Force's previously presented recommendation to build a new Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade Elementary School, build additions to Russell High School to house 7th and 8th Grade and a new auditorium, construct a new Central Office, vacate the existing middle school and two elementary schools, and keep the total cost within $50 million.

Following Montgomery's presentation, the Board, Task Force and members of the public exchanged several thoughts regarding the options presented and the likelihood of a bond election.

The Board and Task Force plan to meet again in January.
