City of Russell Fire Department Awarded Grant

Russell City Fire DepartmentThe City of Russell Fire Department has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the Volunteer Fire Assistance Cooperative Fire Protection Program.

The grant will be used to purchase firefighting gear.

The gear is dual purpose that will serve as wildland and technical rescue gear.

Fire Chief Shane Preston...

Using a lighter rescue gear would reduce the heat stress on firefighters, decrease the time firefighters would need to rehab during rescues and also extend the life of the more expensive structural firefighting gear.

Preston said the Department has received several grants this year.

The City of Russell Fire Department thanks the Volunteer Fire Assistance Cooperative Fire Protection Program for their support.
