Stolen Property Located, Russell Man Arrested

Russell Police DepartmentA Russell man was arrested Monday in Russell on traffic infraction, stolen property, gun and drug charges.

According to police logs, at 2:12 PM Monday, a Russell Police Officer advised Russell Dispatch he was attempting to stop a red and white ATV driven by Richard Heaton in the area of 3rd and Main in Russell and requested assistance locating it from other officers.

Additional police officers and Russell County Sheriff's Deputies responded. The ATV was located at 435 West 7th.

Heaton was located at the residence, but Nathan Casper fled on foot from the home.

Heaton was placed under arrest for driving while suspended.

Bryce Morris and Casper were arrested and charged with interference with a law enforcement officer.

A towing company was contacted to tow an ATV, a UTV and a motorcycle from 435 West 7th to the Police Department. The UTV was reported stolen last week.

At 4:37 PM Monday, a search warrant was executed at 435 West 7th.

Following the search, Heaton was also charged with five counts of felon in possession of a firearm, defacing identification marks on a firearm, criminal use of weapons, possession of a suppressor, felony possession of stolen property, distribution of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
