Russell City Council Selects Archaeologist for Street Project

Russell City Council 1-2-18The Russell City Council selected an archaeologist for the upcoming Lincoln and 15th Streets Reconstruction Project at a meeting Tuesday.

The meeting was a continuation of the June 19 regular meeting.

The project will reconstruct a portion of Lincoln Street from Wisconsin Street to the railroad tracks and a portion of 15th Street from Fossil Street to Kansas Street.

The project is scheduled to begin this month and be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.

The City is required to have an archaeologist on site to look for historical artifacts because of a request by the Osage Nation Native American Tribe.

Councilman Jim Cross made the motion to award the archaeologist bid.

The motion passed unanimously.

Following that item, the Council held its monthly work study session.

The 2019 budget was discussed.

City Manager Jon Quinday said the proposed budget for next year calls for the same mill levy as 2018.

Quinday further explained the proposed budget.

The 2019 budget will be considered for approval in August.

Also Tuesday, the Council discussed a wastewater rate study, golf membership rates and renewable parallel generation.
