RHS Awarded $10,000 Grant for Microbiology Program

RHS Grant Presentation 9-14-18Russell High School was awarded a $10,000 grant through America's Farmers Grow Rural Education, a program that helps farmers support their local rural public school districts.

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.

This grant will be used to implement the Small World Initiative program, an exciting, research-based and innovative program in microbiology from Yale University, according to RHS Principal Donna Schmidt. Through this program, students in RHS biology classes will practice microbiology and gain skills in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) applications to become college, career and workforce ready.

Grow Rural Education awards $2.3 million in STEM grants to public school districts annually and has awarded over $14 million since 2011 according to its website.

The grant presentation was at halftime of the football game on Friday at Shaffer Field in Russell.
