USD 407 BOE Discusses Gifted Education, District Preschool

USD 407 BOE 4-16-18The USD 407 Board of Education met Monday evening and discussed a gifted education support contract, the possibility of launching a district preschool and several other topics.

Superintendent Shelly Swayne explains the gifted education support contract.

Also Monday, the Board continued discussions regarding the possible launch of a district preschool.

In June it was announced that local resident Richard Cross was going to donate the old laundromat building at 12th and Main in Russell to USD 407 to be used for a district preschool.

An inspection of the building has been completed and the Board talked Monday about what it's going to take to remodel the building. No action was taken.

Also Monday, the Board approved a bid to repair and replace damaged lights at the Shaffer Field Sports Complex. Some of the lights were damaged in the recent hail storm.

The Board also briefly discussed facilities and the superintendent search timeline. Swayne is still technically the interim superintendent.
