Victoria Falls at St. Francis

Victoria KnightsThe Victoria Knight football team saw its season come to an end on Friday, November 2 in St. Francis with a 30-12 loss to the Indians in the second round of the 8-Man Division I playoffs.

St. Francis (10-0) scored the only touchdown of the first quarter on a one yard run by quarterback Brady Dinkel and led 6-0 after one period.

Indian running back Jordan Raby scampered 24 yards for a TD at the 10:27 mark in the second frame. Victoria's (7-3) first touchdown of the game came at the 6:37 mark in the second period when quarterback Grant Schoenrock passed 29 yards to running back Jacob Wellbrock for a score. It capped off a nine play, 79 yard drive. However, St. Francis then scored two more touchdowns in the quarter, a Dinkel pass to Connor Keller and a Raby run, and led 30-6 at the halftime break.

Neither team scored in the third period.

Victoria running back Jayvon Pruitt finished an 11 play, 70 yard drive with a five yard touchdown run with 6:06 to play in the game. The Knights then recovered the subsequent onside kick, but then a few plays later lost a fumble and St. Francis was able to run out the rest of the clock.

Victoria was 0-for-2 on two-point conversions, while St. Francis was 3-of-4.

The Knights totaled 151 yards on the ground and 98 yards through the air. Schoenrock completed nine passes for 98 yards and rushed for 67 yards on 17 carries. Pruitt rushed for 50 yards on 17 carries. Wellbrock caught two passes for 42 yards.

St. Francis totaled 225 yards on the ground and 27 yards through the air. Dinkel rushed for 97 yards on 18 carries. Raby rushed for 91 yards on 24 carries.

Victoria threw one interception and lost two fumbles. St. Francis lost only one fumble.

The Knights finish the season 7-3. The undefeated Indians advance to the next round of the playoffs and will host Hodgeman County on November 9.
