SYLVAN GROVE- Superstar player Emily Ryan scored 42 points in just three quarters as the Central Plains Lady Oilers took control almost immediately on their way to a 91-31 victory over Victoria Thursday evening in the first round of the Class 1A Regional at Sylvan-Lucas Unified High School.

Victoria trailed 26-1 before scoring six of the final eight points in the opening period to close the margin to 28-7.  Central Plains stretched the lead out to 59-13 at halftime with an explosive second quarter.  The two teams played fairly even in the third period but the Lady Oilers held a 78-30 advantage before cruising through a fourth quarter with a running clock to finish off the victory.

Victoria was led by Lydia Sander's 13 points while freshman Kassidy Nixon was the only other Lady Oiler to crack double figures with 12 points.

The Lady Knights season ends with a record of 12-9 and Thursday's game marked the end of the high school career for the team's lone senior, Ally Dinkel.

Central Plains, the five-time defending state champions, ran their winning streak to 105 games as they improved to 20-0 on the season.  The Lady Oilers are within two wins of Hoxie's state record 107-game winning streak.

Central Plains will play Otis-Bison in the championship game after the Lady Cougars defeated Sylvan-Lucas 54-33 for their second win on the Lady Mustang's home court in the last four weeks.

The first quarter was close between the two teams, but Otis-Bison finished strong and led 16-8 after the first eight minutes.  In the second quarter, the teams traded baskets for a few minutes but the Lady Cougars then closed the half with a 12-0 run and led 32-14 at intermission.  After that, Otis-Bison was never really threatened, leading 46-25 after three quarters and keeping their lead around 20 points before settling for the 21-point win.
