RHS Finishes Second at NCAA League Invite

Russell Boys Golf Team 5-9-19The Russell High School boys golf team finished second in the North Central Activities Association League Invitational on Thursday, May 9 in Salina.

The tournament was scheduled to be held in Russell earlier in the week, but moved to Salina due to wet conditions on the Russell course.

The Broncos posted a 359. Sacred Heart captured the team title with a 300.

Russells Braden Flax and Cole Birky 5-9-19Sacred Heart's Kameron Shaw took top individual honors with a 70 and beat his teammate Tate Herrenbruck by two strokes. Russell had two medalists. Braden Flax finished sixth with an 85 and Cole Birky was ninth with an 88. Also for the Broncos, Kyle Lampert shot a 92, Gavin Ewers a 94, Jayden Braun a 99 and Hunter Reddig and Austin Price each a 101.

Russell will compete in the Class 3A Regional on Monday, May 13 hosted by Hoisington at the Lake Barton Course. Tee time is at 10 AM.
