Beloit Sweeps NCAA League Titles; RHS Girls Sixth, Boys Seventh

Track Start Finish Line PictureThe Russell High School track and field team competed in the North Central Activities Association League Meet in Salina on Friday, May 10.

The RHS girls finished sixth with 42 points and the boys seventh with 22. Beloit swept the team titles. The Beloit girls had 147 points and the boys 167 points.

Renee Nichol had a big day for the Russell girls as she won the long jump and triple jump and placed sixth in the 100 M dash. Kaylee Hoss finished second in the shot put and was fourth in the discus. Camille Dortland took third in the 800 M run. Rylan Reeves placed sixth in the 100 M hurdles. The 4x400 relay team was fifth.

For the RHS boys, Jesse Whitmer won the 100 and 200 M dashes. Jacob Windholz took fifth in the 200 M dash.

Russell will compete in the Scott City Class 3A Regional on Friday, May 17.
