OTIS - Cora Anderson and Maddie Wiltse scored nine points apiece as Otis-Bison overcame a rough day at the free throw line and rode its defense to a 26-12 win over Victoria. on Saturday afternoon, January 11 at Otis-Bison Junior-Senior High School. The game was part of a doubleheader between the two teams that had been postponed from Friday night due to wintry weather.

The first quarter was fairly even as Victoria led 5-4 after a three-pointer by Melany Huser. But the Lady Cougars scored the quarter's final four points to lead 8-5 after the first eight minutes. The Lady Knights then failed to score in the second period, but still trailed only 12-5 at intermission.

Otis-Bison widened its lead by outscoring Victoria 8-2 in the third quarter with the only points for the Lady Knights coming courtesy of a field goal by Kassi Weber. Lydia Sander, who spent much of the game on the bench due to foul trouble, scored four points in the final period. But it was not enough to catch up to the Lady Cougars (8-0, 3-0 CPL), who won despite making just seven of 17 free throw attempts. Huser led Victoria (2-5, 0-1 CPL) with five points, all of them in the first quarter.

The Victoria boys came into Saturday's contest still winless on the season, but confident after a close loss to Plainville earlier in the week. After Otis-Bison built a three-point lead in the opening quarter, Victoria finished strong and led 13-12 after the first eight minutes.

The game remained close for much of the second quarter until a late surge allowed the Knights to build a 33-21 halftime advantage. Victoria would not take its foot off the gas pedal in the third quarter, putting up another 20 points to lead 53-29 heading into the final stanza. The Knights cruised from there for a 65-35 win with the game's final two minutes played with a running clock.

Three Knights were in double figures led by 15 points apiece from Kyle Pickering and Thaddeus Wohler. Kirk Huser added 11 points and Jason Karst just missed joining the double digit club with nine points. Jayce Kohls led Otis-Bison (2-6, 0-3 CPL) with 12 points.
