Sylvan-Lucas High SchoolBoys: Sylvan Lucas 55, Natoma 43

CLAFLIN-Jonah Huehl scored 31 points and recorded a double-double as the #2 seed Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs held off a late rally for a 55-43 victory over the #3 seed Natoma Tigers in the Boys semifinals of the Central Plains Regional Thursday evening at Central Plains High School.

The first eight minutes were fairly even with Sylvan-Lucas holding a 14-9 edge after the opening quarter.  However, Huehl led the charge in the second quarter scoring eight of his 15 first half points while Natoma was plagued by turnovers as the Mustangs led 29-14 at halftime.

Sylvan-Lucas maintained its advantage with Huehl scoring nine more points in the third stanza to swell the margin to 43-26.  Natoma then started a furious comeback, beginning the fourth quarter on an 11-2 run to close to within 45-37 with 3:59 remaining.  However, the Tigers ran out of time and missed some key shots allowing Sylvan-Lucas to advance to the Regional Final and punch its ticket to next week's Sub-State Tournament with the 12-point victory.  Huehl led the Mustangs with 11 rebounds as they won the battle of the boards 25-17.

Natoma (10-12) was led by 11 points from Shayne Engling and 10 points from Jayce Dickerson.
