Alexis Schamberger Selected as New RHS Girls Basketball Head Coach

Alexis SchambergerAlexis Schamberger has been selected as the new head coach of the Russell High School girls basketball team.

The hire was approved Monday by the USD 407 Board of Education.

It will be Schamberger's first head coaching position.

She graduated in December from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth where she played volleyball and basketball. Before that, she played volleyball and basketball at Pratt Community College. At Pratt, she was named KJCAA Honorable Mention and Female Student Athlete of the Year as a sophomore.

She is a Hoxie native. She was a three-time state volleyball competitor at Hoxie High School, all-state as a senior, two-time all-league, four-time state basketball champion and three-time all-state basketball award winner.

Schamberger will also serve as an assistant coach for volleyball at RHS, a paraeducator and a psychologist.

She replaces Frank Schulte who resigned as the Lady Broncos head coach in April after 11 years.

The USD 407 Board of Education also approved the hires of Bryant Eichman and Nikki Hemel as assistant girls basketball coaches at RHS.
