Natoma Opens 6-Man Playoffs Tuesday

Natoma TigersThe Natoma Tigers football team will appear in a postseason game for the first time in 13 years on Tuesday, October 20 when they host the defending state champion Moscow in the first round of the 6-Man playoffs.

The Tigers (3-1), under first year head coach Brian Patterson, defeated Northern Valley, Weskan and Pawnee Heights in their first three games before falling at home in what turned out to be their regular season finale against top-ranked Cheylin. Natoma had their opening game against Western Plains-Healy canceled when the Bobcats didn't have enough players to field a team and they never played a single game in 2020. The regular season finale against Tribune-Greeley County was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns for the Jackrabbits. A third game against Golden Plains also was canceled. But Pawnee Heights replaced them on the schedule.

The winner of the game between Natoma and Moscow will face the winner of the contest between Cunningham and Northern Valley in the semifinals on October 24. The other two first round games have Cheylin taking on Burrton and Ashland going up against Golden Plains. The Wild West Bowl, the 6-Man state championship game, will be held on October 31 in Dodge City.

Natoma's most recent playoff game took place on October 30, 2007 when they lost to Sharon Springs-Wallace County on the road 56-8 in the first round of that year's 8-Man playoffs. Natoma has been playing 6-Man football since 2016.

Tuesday's game kicks off at 3 PM and will be broadcast on KRSL 95.9 FM and streamed on KRSL.com.
