RHS Splits League Opener vs. Sacred Heart

Madison Beagley scored a career-high 29 points and Janna Schulte 15 to lead the Russell High School girls basketball team to a 50-31 win over Sacred Heart in their NCAA league opener in Russell on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

The Lady Broncos jumped out to a 12-6 lead after one quarter and led 22-14 at halftime.  Russell outscored the Lady Knights 15-6 in the third quarter to go up 37-20 and extended their lead to as many as 20 in the fourth.

Russell is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the NCAA.  Sacred Heart drops to 4-1 and 0-1 in league play.

In the boys game, Sacred Heart used an early 14-2 run to grab control and rolled to a 65-26 win.

The Knights led 6-4 before going on their big run.  Sacred Heart led 20-8 after one quarter, 40-17 at halftime and 53-17 after three quarters.

Brandon Bachar hit a pair of three's and scored a career-high 10 points to pace Russell.

Russell drops to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the NCAA, while Sacred Heart improves to 3-2 and 1-0 in league play.
